Our School, our rules!

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach that helps students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. It creates a positive, predictable, and safe learning environment where all students can thrive. This approach also supports and improves school climate.  By setting clear expectations and reinforcing positive behavior, students develop important life skills while making school a great place to learn and grow.

At SMS, students played a key role in creating our expectations! Together, they helped identify the values that matter most to our school community.

We focused on 3 to 5 simple, positive, and easy-to-remember expectations that guide how we learn and interact every day. These expectations include:

  • Be Safe – We are ready to learn.
  • Be Respectful – We treat others with kindness.
  • Be Responsible – We make choices that keep everyone safe.

By working together—students, staff, and families at SMS—we built a framework that reflects our shared values and helps everyone thrive!

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
