Springbank Middle School 2024-25

Information for September

Welcome (or Welcome Back) Eagles! Planning for next year is underway. We hope that you find the information below helpful in planning for a successful 2024-25 school year at Springbank Middle School. Please check our website in August for more start-up information.

Staggered Entry Sept. 3 & 4, 2024

We will have a 2-day staggered entry Sept. 3 & 4. SMS is staggering their entry and inviting our Grade 5 and 6 classes early to build their excitement. This will enable us to provide them with the SMS Eagle Camp experience. Grade 5 teachers will be outside to meet students for the two days of school.

Tuesday September 3 – Grade 5 & 6 (8:40)
Wednesday September 4 – All Grades

Class Lists

All students will be notified of their class assignments by their homeroom teacher later in August, prior to the start of the school year. For privacy reasons, class lists will not be posted publicly.

Experiencing the initial uncertainty of a new class can be a valuable growth opportunity for students. The teachers from the previous year carefully create the class lists for the upcoming year, using their knowledge and observations of the students throughout the school year. They thoughtfully place students in specific classes based on these insights. Additionally, teachers excel at supporting students as they transition and adjust to their new classes at the beginning of the year.

School Supplies Lists

The lists of required student supplies are available on our website until June 28th, 2024.

Laptops

SMS has a one-to-one device program at grades 7 and 8 which means that, wherever possible, all grade 7 and 8 students are to bring their own laptop to school every day.
It is also recommended that students in grades 5 and 6 bring their own device.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
